Harlequin Shrimp have become increasingly popular in the saltwater aquarium hobby, admired not only for their vibrant colors and unique behavior but also for their appetite for various nuisance starfish species like asterinas. Despite their seemingly formidable claws, these are not used for hunting; instead, they serve as tools for social displays. Harlequin Shrimp tend to do best when kept in pairs in saltwater aquariums with moderate lighting and an abundance of small caves, crevices, and overhangs. These shrimp exclusively feed on the tube feet of starfish and urchins, and will rapidly starve without these prey animals.
